These are pretty standard – similar to the Octarius missions they use/recommend a specific terrain layout using the box terrain, and they generally pretty good at matching the mood of what they seem to be going for. Taken in tandem with a box like Octarius, it adds a significant amount of content to any budding Kill Team collection. They perform functions like preventing the same ad from continuously reappearing, ensuring that ads are properly displayed for advertisers, and in some cases selecting advertisements that are based on your interests.

We mainly cover Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Age of Sigmar, Warmachine, Hordes, X-Wing, Infinity, Horus Heresy, and Star Wars Armada. Your operatives will have their work cut out for them in the Chalnath Expanse, with nine new missions arriving in the Shadow Operations: Chalnath mission pack. While armies engage in battle, kill teams of T’au Pathfinders and Adepta Sororitas Novitiates clash, fighting to win over the system’s populace by spreading the truths of the Greater Good and the Imperial Creed. As I said above, the previous Kill Team boxed release Octarius box had far more in it than the Chalnath box does.

When selecting a Spec Op for your Kill Team you can select from two exclusive Novitiate ones, Purge the Unclean and Reclamation Sweep. It’s brilliant to see Kill Team getting support so early after it’s release, and it’s setting a precedence of what we may get moving forward, with the odd new units or upgrade sprues. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. The one thing that really threw me, though, was that you are required to actually break off several parts of moulded scenery. Despite a relative lack of experience, Novitiates are just as accurate in shooting as their full-fledged Battle Sister comrades – but it’s in melee combat where they truly shine.

The Chalnath Expanse is situated on the wrong side of the Great Rift, deep within the darkened reaches of Imperium Nihilus. The Chalnath book, which we’ll talk about in detail shortly, does not include the basic rules for Kill Team. As a big fan of the Adepta Sororitas and a former T’au Empire collector, I am absolutely psyched to get into the good stuff in this box. When compared to the T’au Pathfinders, the Adepta Sororitas Novitiates are a very easy and straightforward kit to put together. As usual, I haven’t been able to get a decent, folded-out shot of both sides of the board due to the limitations of my lightbox.

The Op requires you to complete five games scoring points off Reconsecrate Ground or Triangulate, then score Retrieval in a game. Perhaps I wasn’t shaving off my sprue gates well enough, but between a mould line remover, a file and a decent pair of RedgrassGames Precision Nippers I like to think I’d done a good enough job tidying up the sides of these things. Before they become fully fledged Battle Sisters, aspirants must prove their piety on the front lines.
