About this deal
Like the previous 7 books, The Last Orphan is a topnotch thriller with literally something for everyone.
The Last Orphan is so titled because Smoak is the last man standing in a top-secret, off-the-books US programme that raised and trained youngsters and turned them into one-man killing machines. Evan’s backstory is lengthy and complex; Hurwitz shrewdly paints in primary colors and keeps the action moving. In this installment, Even starts to view himself as growing older and perhaps not the killing machine he once was.
Here's my suggestion to Mr Hurwitx: Take all the psychological navel-gazing sections and reduce them by 50%; then use that save space to add a little more action. Another sported a convenient wrist cast; Evan always liked when a loudmouth came packaged with his own bludgeon. In the collective absence of Joey and Mia, Los Angeles had felt quiet enough for Evan to rediscover the fierce loneliness in freedom.
Will Evan take the President's offer and eliminate Luke Devine or does Evan think his principles are more important and let Luke walk away? She asks him to take down a man named Luke Devine, an enormously rich and evil man who, she says, poses a threat to the safety of the entire country. Will he follow through for his own self-preservation, or will he adhere to his own personal moral code? Now once again in need of his particular skill-set, the President tracks him down and offers him a deal: kill a man she deems too dangerous or be executed himself .
